This DnD weapons list is a free tool that runs in your browser and shows every weapon and armor from the SRD 5.2.1 Weapons and Armor tables. You can switch between weapons and armor, search by name, and narrow the results by training, range, property, mastery, or armor category. It covers all 38 weapons (14 Simple and 24 Martial) and every armor row, so you can compare damage, cost, weight and Armor Class side by side. A line above the table shows how many entries match, such as “14 weapons of 38.” A “What the properties and masteries mean” section gives the full SRD text for each weapon property and mastery, so you can check a rule without leaving the page.

How to use the Weapons List

  1. Set Show to Weapons or Armor.
  2. Type part of a name in the search box, such as “longsword,” to filter by name.
  3. For weapons, open Training and choose Simple and Martial, Simple, or Martial.
  4. Open Melee or ranged to show only one type.
  5. Open Property or Mastery and pick one of the weapon properties or one of the 8 masteries.
  6. Open Sort by and choose Name, Damage highest first, Cost lowest first, or Weight lightest first.
  7. For armor, open Category and choose All armor, Light, Medium, Heavy, or Shield.
  8. Enter your modifier in Your Dexterity modifier (-5 to 10, starts at 0) to update the AC at your Dex column.
  9. Read the count line above the table to see how many entries match.

Each filter narrows the same table, so you can combine them: for example, pick Martial and Melee, then sort by damage to compare the heaviest hitters. Changing Show to Armor swaps the weapon filters for the armor category menu. Use Reset to clear every filter and start again. Print this list prints the current table, and Copy link copies a link to the list. The full SRD text for each property and mastery sits in the section below the table.

How do I calculate my Armor Class?

Start with the base AC of your armor, add your Dexterity modifier if that armor allows it, then add 2 if you carry a Shield. Once you enter your modifier, the AC at your Dex column does the armor and Dex steps for you.

  1. Find the base AC of your armor in the table below.
  2. Light armor: add your full Dexterity modifier.
  3. Medium armor: add your Dexterity modifier, but never more than +2.
  4. Heavy armor: add nothing from Dexterity.
  5. Add 2 if you carry a Shield.

With a Dexterity modifier of +3, the tool gives these results:

  • Studded Leather Armor: 12 + 3 = 15
  • Breastplate: 14 + 2 (capped) = 16
  • Half Plate: 15 + 2 (capped) = 17
  • Chain Mail: 16 (no Dex bonus)
  • Plate: 18 (no Dex bonus)

With a Dexterity modifier of -1, Half Plate drops to 14 (15 - 1).

What armor is there in 5e and what is its AC?

The SRD 5.2.1 armor table has 12 body armors in three categories, plus the Shield. Light armor gives 11 to 12 plus your full Dexterity modifier, Medium armor gives 12 to 15 with Dexterity capped at +2, and Heavy armor gives 14 to 18 with no Dexterity bonus. The Shield adds +2 AC.

If an armor lists a Strength score and yours is lower, your speed drops by 10 feet.

Armor also needs training. Under the SRD 5.2.1 rules you gain the benefit of armor only if you have training with its category, and a character wearing armor without training has Disadvantage on D20 Tests that use Strength or Dexterity and cannot cast spells. Light, Medium and Heavy armor and the Shield are each a separate training, so check your class before you pick a row in the table.

How this tool works and where the numbers come from

Weapon and armor rows are copied from the SRD 5.2.1 Weapons and Armor tables. Average damage is the number of dice times the average of one die. Armor Class is the armor’s base AC plus the Dexterity modifier for Light armor, the modifier capped at +2 for Medium armor, and nothing for Heavy armor.

Frequently asked questions

What are all the weapons in D&D 5e?

There are 38 weapons in the SRD 5.2.1 Weapons table: 14 Simple and 24 Martial. Simple melee weapons number 10 and Simple ranged weapons are the Dart, Light Crossbow, Shortbow and Sling. Leave every filter empty with Show set to Weapons to see the full set.

What is the best weapon in 5e?

No single weapon wins every game, because the best choice depends on your class, your build and the fight. For raw average damage, the Greatsword and Maul lead at 7 (2d6). Set Sort by to Damage highest first to see the full ranking.

What do the weapon properties mean?

Properties such as Finesse, Heavy, Light, Loading, Range, Reach, Thrown, Two-Handed, Versatile and Ammunition change how a weapon can be used. Finesse, for example, lets you use Dexterity instead of Strength for attack and damage rolls. Open “What the properties and masteries mean” for the full SRD text.

What is weapon mastery?

Weapon mastery is the mastery property each weapon carries, and there are eight: Cleave, Graze, Nick, Push, Sap, Slow, Topple and Vex. Only a character with a feature such as Weapon Mastery can use it. The Mastery column shows each weapon’s property, and the Mastery menu filters by it.

What is the difference between simple and martial weapons?

Simple weapons are the 14 basic weapons, such as the Club (1 SP) and the Dart. Martial weapons are the 24 more specialised ones, such as the Longsword and Greatsword. Use the Training menu to show Simple, Martial, or both.

Which armor gives Disadvantage on Stealth?

Padded, Scale Mail, Half Plate, Ring Mail, Chain Mail, Splint and Plate all give Disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks. Leather, Studded Leather, Hide, Chain Shirt, Breastplate and the Shield do not.
